WHO WE ARE
The church is more than just a building.
We are a Northside Church who loves the Northside. We are a church that is looking forward while not forgetting where we've been. We trace our roots on the Northside to seven separate historic churches from four separate denominations, dating back to 1824. We became Riverview in 1977, with the merger of three Observatory Hill congregations. In 2022, we took a new step in faith and sold our historic building to move into the Community House, where we are part of a multi-congregation, multi-denominational, multicultural, LGBTQIA+ affirming ministry collaborative.
We believe that the church is more than a building, it's the hands and feet of God at work in the community. We believe that the Kingdom of God is a beautiful and diverse mosaic of God's people, and that the Church should be too. God has given you life, and you are welcome here. Whoever you are, whatever you have walked through in life, we truly believe that God in Christ is your hope. And you are welcome, encouraged, and invited to seek that hope here. We believe the Church should be a safe and inclusive space for all people to find, and dwell in the presence of God.
We believe God has called us to love our neighbors. And we believe that to love our neighbors is to serve our neighbors. Mission and ministries of compassion are a big part of our community.
We truly believe that mission and worship go hand in hand. Christ calls us to embrace the love of God and the love of our neighbors in all we do. Jesus tells us, "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) We believe that, in Christ, we find our center and our rest.
